Supported Charities
Our Outreach Programme continues to expand, adding new opportunities for SACS boys of all ages to make a difference to the lives of others. The following list features the institutions which we continue to support:
- The Christian David Moravian Primary School: recipients of our weekly sandwich collection. (click on the link to view photographs of our SRC delivering the weekly sandwiches).
- The PDSA and DARG: proceeds of the FP film show are given to these animal protection agencies.
- Our annual Senior Citizens’ Tea which draws in members from a number of surrounding Retirement Homes.
- Red Cross Children’s Hospital (Out Patient Dept): regularly receive decorations and gifts raised in the run up to the Christmas holidays.
- Maitland Cottage (Newlands): our learners often read to the children at the Recovery Home; toys are also donated at Christmas time.
- The Stockwell School in Montague: receive Christmas presents donated.
- The Rural Child Project: recipients of bric-a-brac collected at various times.
- The Woodside Sanctuary for Disabled Children: recipients of books collected as part of our 67 days of Activism Campaign
- The community at Mfuleni in Blue Downs: an SRC initiative involving the planting of trees.
- The SRC-initiated Blanket Drive raised 250 blankets which were delivered to the impoverished community of Bardale in Blue Downs. (click on the link to view photographs of the event).
- The Suurbraak community school: regularly receive stationery, shoes, shorts and shirts collected as part of our “S’ drive.
- Nazareth House Children’s Home receive toiletry gift packs.
The Outreach Programme has developed into a massive exercise that is sustainable largely through the kindness and generosity shown by the broader SACS community.
