Natural Science
The Natural Sciences Learning Area aims to educate learners by creating an environment that is stimulating and enjoyable, enabling pupils to appreciate the subject’s applicability in other disciplines and in everyday life. An awareness that the applications of science may be both beneficial and detrimental to the individual, the community and the environment is also promoted. Science lessons are, as far as possible, practically based, fostering curiosity and imaginative, critical and logical thinking, developing skills, encouraging good habits for health and safety, and stimulating an interest in and an awareness of the surroundings as well as leading to the acquisition of knowledge. We also aim to prepare the boys for the academic challenges that lie ahead so that they are properly equipped to thrive in the next stage of their Science education.
We do this by providing the learners with an opportunity to:
- Plan/conduct investigations
- Collect /evaluate data and communicate findings
- Recall/categorize and interpret information
- Recognise and understand the relationship between Science and Technology
