SACS Junior offers cricket as a summer extra-mural sport at all Grade levels.  Grade 1 and 2 boys play mini-cricket once a week and we use this time to teach them basic skills with the focus always being on participation and enjoyment.  In Grade 3, for the first time, boys play competitive mini-cricket matches against other schools, and we also begin to prepare the boys for hard ball cricket.  All boys in Grades 1, 2 and 3 are encouraged to participate in our mini-cricket programme.

Hard ball cricket begins in Grade 4 (or U10 level) and this is where the boys’ real cricket careers begin.  Currently, we enter four teams in each of the U10 and U11 leagues, and three teams in U12 and U13 respectively.  For those boys who are not initially placed into a team but who still wish to play the sport, we offer an extra cricket practice on a Friday afternoons.  Matches against other schools are also arranged for these ‘Calypso Cricket’ teams.

SACS prides itself on being able to provide proper cricket facilities for practices and matches.  The school has four grass pitches and seven cricket nets available for practice purposes. We are pleased to provide a high standard of coaching to cricketers at all levels, with a dedicated and committed group of qualified staff and student coaches taking teams each afternoon.

Cricket is the most popular summer sport at SACS Junior with about 470 boys playing.  Our results throughout the age groups are very positive.
